Eye examinations are an essential health check to detect sight-threatening conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. An eye examination may also detect other underlying health issues.
In Scotland, all UK residents are eligible for a free eye examination once every two years. If you are over sixty, under sixteen or diabetic you are entitled to a free annual examination.
We are currently registering new patients, so simply contact us to arrange a suitable appointment.
All new patients are given a comprehensive eye examination that will check your eyes for all the conditions above and many more. Techniques such as Ocular Coherence Tomography can detect conditions below the retinal surface which may otherwise go undetected.
We store all retinal imagery for future comparison to enable us to monitor any deterioration in the health of your eyes.
Eye tests are free in Scotland from any optometrist who supplies NHS services, as long as you are a UK resident. You are entitled to have a free eye test once every two years if you’re between the age of 16 and 60 and annually if you meet certain conditions.
At Hughes & McHugh we use the very latest in eyecare technology and we make sure that our patients always receive excellent care and attention. If you need an eye test contact us anytime.
At Hughes and McHugh Optometrists we appreciate how precious a child’s eyesight is, that’s why we have a fantastic range of children’s frames to suit all ages.
It’s estimated that over 10% of children have an undetected eye condition which can have a serious effect on a child’s educational performance. Eye examinations for children are free in Scotland so why not get in touch and get your child tested?
Diabetes seriously affects many parts of your body and increases the risk of eye conditions such as cataracts and glaucoma. Diabetic retinopathy can lead to serious eye problems and in severe cases can eventually lead to complete blindness.
An eye examination can diagnose diabetes-related eye problems at an early stage and give you a chance to develop a suitable treatment plan with your doctor.
Employers have a health and safety obligation to ensure the well-being of their employees. This includes the eye care of certain members of your staff.
We supply a wide range of eye care services to local businesses that offer excellent value for money. We can tailor plans to suit your company’s needs and can either invoice the company directly or provide vouchers for your employees. Contact us to find out more.
